Nové Mesto recommendations

Introduction
The purpose of this report is to recommend how the money available to the town council for improving the neighbourhood should be spent.

The roads
The condition of the roads in Bratislava is very bad: they are full of holes and bumps and cracks. It leads to damaging the cars, traffic congestion, accidents. The condition of sidewalks is no better - they are getting very dangerous and people are using the streets instead.
They money could be used to repair the worst parts of the roads and sidewalks making them less dangerous.
We could use some money to repair or even replace the streetlights with more sturdy and energy-efficient ones. This could in long term save us money.

Parks and recreation
The parks and recreation areas in Nové Mesto have huge potential. There are already enough children playgrounds. The best value for money would be repairing the benches, growing and taking care of the trees and flowers.
What we should definitely invest in are new public toilets , facilities and rubbish bins, especially for dog owners.
We could also use some fountains, mainly in the summer. Drinking fountains might be a good idea too.
In the end, to protect our new investments, I would recommend a police patrol over the parks 24-7 or using a hidden CCTV (security) camera.
Public transport
Finally, the state of public transport stops and especially the train station is alarming and unrepresentative. The investment into redecorating and refurbishing the train station (air conditioning)  would pay back in the increase of the number of satisfied tourists leading to more profit for the local businesses and also the town council, thanks to more tax revenue.
We could then extend the whole transport network to cover more area and get more people on board and more cars off the streets.
With more people we would also need more ticket machines.
To attract more people, especially tourists, in the summer, we could rent some cabrio / open buses for sightseeing tours.
To get more cars off the centre, we could also have more car parking areas.

Recommendation

I would suggest using the money available to the town council in the order I have written about. If the money available was not enough, I recommend applying for a grant from the European regional funds or raising money from local people and businesses. A cheaper option might be employing homeless and unemployed people and people in need. This would in turn help them to earn some money and to care more for the environment they helped to create. We could also use the help of NGOs, non-profits and volunteer organizations in the area.

Improving classroom recommendations

I would suggest replacing the radio and pc.
There should be something done about the plumbing installation.
I recommend buying new windows.
I suggest redecorating the class using bright colours, such as light green (hope), yellow or orange.
I would consider having more control over the lights in the class.
I would like to have more space under desks.
I would not mind having access to the garden.
We should attract a good cafeteria as close as possible.
I do not think a classroom pet would be a good idea because some people may be allergic to them,
I would not recommend having a cat in the class
because they are very demotivational!
Having an animal in the class would mean loss of concentration for many students.
I would recommend a goldfish as  a class pet because it does not make any noise.
I would also suggest a hamster or a gekko if we wanted to have a more active animal

C Group
I would suggest replacing the desks and windows, so that the students could concentrate more.
I recommend considering some comfortable chairs (but not too much, we do not want to get the students sleepy).
It would be a good idea to buy some new computers and replace the radio.
It might help to redecorate the classroom in light and bright colours,
It could also be nice to plant some flowers in the classroom.
Classroom pet
For me, fish would be ideal pets because they do not need so much care and attention as the other.
A hamster would be nice - it’s quiet during the day
Turtles are also handy because they are, similar to fish, quite peaceful and disciplined.
Parrot for a language class? - it could help us with learning and repeating words. It could spark conversations and cheer up the students.

Pet reducing stress? -

Hello Sam,
I recommend you the festival Bažant Pohoda. In my opinion it is the most interesting  festival in Slovakia. It will take place  from 10 to 12th of July on Trenčín's airport. At that time the weather is usually at its best. It is a large area so it will not be crowded there. There are reserved places for tents so you do not have to worry about sleeping. Of course there are many food and drink stalls. They re are a little bit more expensive but it is normal for festivals. The bus stops or railway station are a little further away from the festival but you can also arrive by car, there is a paid parking. Some very good groups from Slovakia are playing at this festival, They are playing different genres of music, I am sure you will enjoy some of them. There are also very friendly people, you will  certainly meet many new friends. I think you could come one or two days earlier. I will certainly be free when you arrive, we will have a nice time together. I will try to get do a day off from work so I could go with you to the festival.
Looking forward to hearing from you.

Hello Sam,
Thanks for your email.  I think the most important and interesting festival in our region is The Traditional Trnava Fair. It happens every year on the second weekend of September. The market takes place in the town on the walking zone and in the old centre.
This festival continues the traditions of market from past. Local people goes down the streets from stand to stand looking for handicrafts and goods made by craftsmen.  There is nice friendly and exciting atmosphere and rich cultural program with traditional folk music.
Maybe the best idea would be if you come here and experience festival´s air for yourself. And I should not couldn't forget mention the food and specialities. For example typical meal „cigánska“ (pork steak with mustard in a bun), „trdelník“ (type of sweetness with walnuts, cinnamon, sugar or coconut and etc.) and of course „burčiak“ (the stage between must and wine).
What do you say? If you decide to come I will be free for you, I promise. Let me know if you come. Looking forward to your answer and I hope it will be positive. We will have a great time.
Kisses,
Laura

Hi Sam!

I’m delighted that you have written to me. In my region we have many festivals, so it’s difficult to say which is the best one. But Gurmán Fest Bratislava (Gourmand Fest Bratislava) is number one for me.

This festival will take place from 7th to 9th June in Medická záhrada. It’s the season when weather outside is pleasant. So what could be better than being in the park, be with smiling people, but above all smelling and eating amazing tasty food?

Yes… Now, you probably know what the festival is about. It’s a festival where you can enjoy many great chefs and the best restaurants according to the ranking wizard Gurmán in Slovakia. Farmer’s markets, vegetable market and coffee shop Ebenica (a Slovak espresso belonging to the top 10 in Europe) are also parts of this event. If you’re interested in foods and drinks you see there, you can also attend presentations and learn more about them.

I’ll be happy as a lark if you participate in this festival. And definitely count on me to be there. I can’t miss this perfect experience!

Bye,

Ivana

Hello Sam,

The most interesting and exciting one near here is called the Let it roll which is every year at the beginning of August. It is my favorite festival of all. This year it will be the 11th year of festival. The LIR (let it roll) is open air music festival in summer. Last year Slovakia and Czech LIR were was joined with . The 2013 edition took place at an exciting new venue;a the former military area in the town of Benešov, situated just 30 minutes from Prague.

Music festival program the LIR focuses on the genre of drum & bass, it is most popular style of electronic music, which began to develop in the 90s of th the last century in England. Drum & bass hasn't got  is definitely not a minority affair. In 2013 the Let It Roll open air festival reached 15,000 visitors and became the leading drum&bass music summer festival in Europe!

Let me know if you are coming and we can start making arrangements.

Looking forward to hearing from you.

Dear Sam,
I like your studying, I think it is very interesting what you are doing.
I live in a region which is famous for grapes and vines, so we have vines festival in many villages
near my village. The best vine festival I think is in Bátorove Kosihy.

you there, because I think it is better when you feel the atmosphere, see everything yourself and you can to taste our wines -  red, rosé and white vines. This vine festival will be on 29.-30. August 2014. I will be glad if you accept my invitation.
There will be many programs so we will

Then you can Besides wines you can also taste our national foods Guláš (Goulash) from Hungary or Bryndzové halušky (Dumplings with sheep cheese) from Slovakia. This will all be in nature, next to a nice forest where are birds singing, so I think that you will really enjoyed it. If you decide to come that you came, please write me another email.

Hello Sam,

Thanks for your email. I`m very surprised that you're interested in festivals in Slovakia. I think the best time to come is in the winter because I have a holiday and we may finally after a few months see it again to .
According to me the most important festival is the Best ski mountaineering in Liptov which starts on Saturday 8 February. You can meet a lot of young people here  from all the world, because in the Liptov region February will be the month of ski mountaineering. This sport is not only a combination of free skiing and climbing abilities but also involves a good physical and mental condition.
You have to be prepared that in winter the weather is here cold. You should bring some warm clothes and also your skis.
I hope that you came and we spend a fantastic days full of fun in Liptov .
Looking forward to your reply,

Marika
